According to Fodor’s, world’s largest publisher of English language travel and tourism information, Thai food is one of the tastiest on the planet. Besides being fresh, healthy, and numbingly spicy, Thai food is famous for its careful balance of the four fundamental flavors—sour, sweet, salty, and bitter. However, all of these do not apply for in-flight meals.
We all know that meals served in airplane don’t have good reputation. No matter what it is—fish, chicken, even pasta, no matter it’s Thai, Maxican, Chinese, Japanese or Italian, every meal served in the air seems to taste undeniably worse than its on-the-ground counterpart.
Recently, in-flight food from Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways has been listed as one of the worst, according to user experience in website called AirlineMeals.net. “This was the most disgusting and bland meal I have ever tried to eat on an aircraft. The egg was gross, the beef was dry and flavourless and the salad smelled toxic. I only ate the cake which was decent“, an unhappy Thai Airways’ passenger comments on the website.
So what is AirlineMeals? AirlineMeals is a website created over ten years ago, by Marco ‘t Hart and its allows users to upload their in-flight meal and rate it out of ten. Marco is now based in Netherlands, says he is no way associated with the airline industry, he just created this website because he knew airline food is something about which we all commiserate.
There are now over 34,000 pictures on the site and growing, covering 680 airlines around the world. Airlinemeals.net is the world’s first and largest online photo archive of in-flight meals and now a treasure trove of insight into the airline catering industry.
